Estrogen & Beer!
by Limp
Estrogen & Beer! Hi Mark,I'm a beer connoisseur. The maltier, and hoppier the better.
I brew it in my bathtub, drink it at my local brewery, and enjoy every single minute of it.
I read your page on erectile dysfunction and diet, and was bummed to see that you list hops and beer as items that promote estrogen.
I do have a fairly serious case of
erectile dysfunction, and am wondering if the two could be tied together?
On an average week, I estimate that I have 20 to 25 beers.
That number can go up if I go to a wedding or party, but normally, I fall within the 20 -25 range.
That sounds like a lot, but it comes out to a little more than 3 beers per day
Is this too much? (please say no).
I there any way that I can have my beer and my erections too?
Signed,

Estrogen & Beer! Hi Limp,
You know as well as I do that 20 -25 malty-hoppy beers a week is too much.
You didn't give me much detail on your physical condition, but that really wasn't necessary.
Why?Because I already know, you've got a gut half the size of Mt. Everest, your
testicles look like two shriveled up raisins, you're, pale, puffy, and in poor physical condition.
Of course you have erectile dysfunction. How could you not?
Let me ask you this...Have you ever met a hardcore beer drinker who was lean, mean, muscular, and full of juice.
I'm not talking about the, have a couple light beers occasionally type guys, I'm talking about the big time beer drinkers.
I'm talking about guys like you! I've met about 3 in my entire life, and they were all athletes, still in their 20's, who could get away with it, at least temporarily.
The other thousand or so I've met aren't nearly so lucky.
Here are a few facts for you...A mere 3.5 ounces of hops can contain up to three hundred thousand IUs of
estrogen. Some varieties contain less, others more, but they all have it.
Most of this E comes in the form of estradiol, and trust me, this is not a substance you want more of!
Why?Because estradiol reduces
testosterone levels, increases sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG), and binds up free testosterone, making it unavailable for use by the body.
A few more factoids...Before mechanical harvesting became the norm, young females working the hop fields in Germany often entered puberty, began menstruation, and developed breasts as much as 2 to 3 years earlier than their peers.
Heavy beer drinkers rarely respond well to the erectile dysfunction drugs, like Viagra or Cialis. Once they cut back on the beer, the drugs become effective.
Researchers at Oregon State University are studying the estrogenic properties of hops for hormone replacement therapy for post menopausal women.
They say hops are the strongest estrogenic phytochemical ever tested, even more potent than soy.
I know this isn't what you wanted to hear, but facts are facts.
You can either acknowledge them, and take action, or bury your head in the sand.
For you, it's a simple choice....Would you rather have your
erections, or your beer?
I know which I'd choose!
